What The Hell Have You Done?
[Update: 08.18.2013] Hi, everyone, this is Mr. Average, here. I’m confined to wireless devices for the moment, which is not really the best or smartest way to make updates to my website, but I thought I would let you all know that my move is over, but it’s been the only thing I had time for besides work in the past seven days. I’m in my new Secure, Undisclosed Location, but everything I own is either dismantled or in boxes, so I’m not really set up to do anything. However, in one week’s time I’ll have my new fiber optic system in place, my studio will be online, and I’ll be back to updating the comic regularly, by the grace of God. Until then, I thank you all for your patience and continued support. This move came a bit suddenly for me, and having to turn it around from lease to move in one week was a huge deal. I’m glad it’s over, and I’m looking forward to normalizing my life again – and getting back to the comic.

Given the response I’ve had in the past about my use of non-English languages in 6-Commando, this is the translation of the dialogue on this page.
Panel 2: “You IDIOT! What the hell have you DONE?!”
Panel 3: “He… He SHOT me!”
And now on to the serious business – the business at hand, so to speak.
Well, it’s happened. I found another place to live, and I’ll be moving in the next two weeks. I feel a little upset about it all, frankly – I like where I am now, so it’s a little bittersweet. But in terms of my own situation, it just made good sense to make the move now and not later. I need some degree of stability and certainty to do my work properly, and the potential that I could be kicked out of my apartment, my landlord’s dithering about selling, not selling, and how and when, and what they wanted from me in all of it, and the fact that I’ve just found out that I’m going to be taking on a lot more responsibility at work this autumn, all combined to basically set me straight on things, so I just pulled the trigger, so to speak. I signed the lease on a new apartment this week, and the move will happen… well, as soon as I can get things arranged with the moving company. Then comes the cleaning out of my old apartment, the whole rigmarole associated with a change of address, resetting all the services… if you’ve ever moved in the United States, you know what a pain it can be; I’m sure it’s much the same in other countries as well.
But the new place has a lot of advantages over this one, and although dealing with the hassle of it all is going to consume most of my attention until everything is complete, it will be worthwhile in the end, I hope. So until then, if I can possibly maintain my schedule I will. If not, you’ll know I’m somewhere in transit, and will be trying to get back on schedule as soon as I can. I know I should have a “buffer” for things like this, but it’s just not the way things have shaken out this time, so I thank you all in advance for your patience as I get my life sorted in the next week or so.
Wish me luck, folks! I’ll report, God willing, from my new Secure, Undisclosed Location within the next two weeks. And who knows, maybe I’ll find time for another page as I go! Here’s hoping!
looks like somebody won’t get a cookie any time soon
moving… oh the jooooy…
Yeah, things can happen really fast, especially when there’s a snap response on some level or other. I actually witnessed a car accident this afternoon, and man it happened in a split second. It was amazing. So this situation, with fingers on triggers and district running rampant, well, it’s pretty fair to say that not everyone is thinking rationally. This kind of thing happens all the time.
Thanks for the good wishes via a vis moving, by the way. It took a lot of effort, but it’s done. I have no Internet, so I’m doing this commenting via my iPad. But yes, it’s done, and I’m getting settled into my new space.

Trooper: Look, he’s okay, I mean he’s barely bleeding out at all and… and… I’m sure he can cope without those organs. Those lungs were only holding him back anyway. See sir, its not so bad as it looks. Look I’ll even help him sit up and *schluck… Thump* I’m… Sure he can do without that head…
Jeepers! 8′
–M
If this is how Zaballa’s aide reacts, the colonel/doctor would also be having a major coronary when he finds out!
Love how you did the perspective in the first panel. Good luck with the move!
He’s not gonna be happy, that’s for sure. Thanks for the good wishes and the patience! The move is all going as smoothly as possible – I’m in my new place surrounded by boxes, with no Internet until next week. O, iPad, what a good investment you were!
–M
I wonder how many CONASURs are there in Command Post Alpha…?
There is no way this is going to end well.
Enough to make a fight of it. And they are tough dudes.
–M
Oops.
Yep.
–M
Focus on completing the move with your possessions and sanity as intact as possible. We will gladly wait for pages. Note I said as intact as possible because I know the gods of misfortune will have their way with you and your possessions. Focusing on the move and all it entails will mitigate their efforts.
So far so good. I did lose some solvents when my paint kit unceremoniously fell apart on the way down the stairs, but that can be replaced, and frankly I’ve been moving to watercolor and acrylic anyway, so it’s just as well. The big problem is my poor little cat, who is hiding out under the bed and refuses to come out. She’s very angry at me for making her move. It’ll be a few days before she forgives me.
–M
Out of curiosity, what is the bottom attachment to the CONASUR rifle? A tac light or infrared laser? Or something else entirely?
Given the precedent of the UNA handgun, I’m gonna say its an underslung rocket launcher
Agreed.
Targeting lasers, vision enhancers, target illuminators are probably integrated into the hardsuit sensory systems.
It’s a rocket-propelled grenade.
Cameron and Ulrich, a cookie and an Internet each!
–M
ah having a rocket propellar at that close range without much protection and the gun is also a shotgun , wasn’t it overkill?
what does those armor made of metal, ceramic, nano fiber? crysis 1,2,3 armor?
The armor varies from nation to nation, but is basically a sandwich of hard plastics, honeycombed metal alloy reinforcement, flexible gel-like self-sealant, and a very tough membrane that helps prevent spalling, which is what happens when little fragments of the outer layer get blown inside the suit. As you can see, though, weapon technology and armor technology more than pace each other, so the suits are defeat able, especially at close range. The Heavy UNA suits the guys on the surface wear are tougher still, more like small walker vehicles than actual armor.
–M
so then to answer for the problem in your commment , any nation or any bodies of world that is base on peace , love , and equality should not be corrupted and keep it technology in protection , so that they can have weapon overmatch any vicious rivalry world that wanted to consume them.
Imagine the good guy having gun and the bad guy just having a mean word to show around and bully other people
I’m sorry, but we’re speaking very different languages. Vietnamese, I take it? I suppose you are using some kind of translation software. Do you mean, that there’s an arms race in the world of this story? That is true, if that’s what you mean. And yes, even countries that claim to be peace-loving are building powerful weapons because of it. Everyone is afraid of everyone else, which is what led them to the war they are now waging against each other.
–M
As we seem to be learning more and more as this comic goes on, there is no such thing as Overkill in the 6-Commando world. Got a gun? Attack more guns to your gun! Have a gun the shoots bullets? Have a gun that shoots rocket propelled bullets, that explode INSIDE the target! Have a tank powered by gas turbines? Have one that weighs the same as a small container ship and is powered by neuclear reactors!
They can always build a bigger gun, or a bigger tank. Overkill is such a relative concept!
–M
“Because overkill is underrated.”
WHy would I not be surprised to find that Mike is packing an Atomic Annie?
is it possible to mounted a shotgun like the guy above with the power amplifier the russian used in the beginning of this series , or of course make a normal sniper gun 10 time more penetrationable does it possible?
Hey i have just watch your 6 comando series so far keep it up Mr.Inspiration , i like the way you draw the entire series , i just feeling it a bit skippy you know? at the last time you could make the entire series more epic if you give a few more dozen to 50 page on the last chapter and more commotion with more character beside our 6 commando , and of course the fallout resulted or have we haven’t got there yet?
Please let us see at least 5 to 10 page a week maybe 3 haha , and please don’t skip try to go slow detail detail , even small talk and hint tips for us viewer .
I also draw alot since my childhood since 3 i could have draw a tank perfectly and still now , but i need some inspiration so if you could let me see your work okey , i have some problem with drawing movement of 50 to a 100 person in one frame can you help me on that like waving hand ,lie down, check on gadget ,drinking water , aim , detail……
And do the series have any fallout mutant? I only draw using pencil and my computer is crap so i can only read what you said .
But i was wondering this can you let us see your design for all of the weapon so far futuristic gun and the gun you intended the show us next page or event , you know replacing the hard to draw panel with some extra each ?
Does the UNA have giant walking plaform?
Wow, tats a big one, but let’s see here.
First, thank you for the compliment, and I’m glad you’re enjoying my comic. It’s fun to draw and I’m glad when people say they have fun reading it too! I’m a full time professional architect, though, so unfortunately, one page a week is all I have time for. My average week is 50 to 60 hours long, and so getting a page of the comic in around the edges is a challenge in itself. One day, though, maybe I’ll get good enough to do more!
Second, for looking at how to draw people, actions, crowds, and so on, google images will give you lots of photographs to use for reference, which is a great place to start. Getty Images is also good, as is the daily paper and magazines. Assemble photos of things that are kind of like what you want to draw – it’s called a morgue – and sketch from that. Also, sketch from life whenever possible – this is the best way to learn how to draw buildings and environments. I’d show you my process but its very mundane. I just draw basic stick figures, assemble a bunch of photos and such from my morgue to look at while I draw, then I refine the sketches, then I “ink” them by going over with a hard, clean line, and then I color them. The whole thing except for the morgue is in photoshop – the morgue I keep in a set of binders on my desk.
Third, there are no mutants in 6-Commando as such, though there are plenty of other weird things happening, so there’s no dearth of craziness.
Fourth, I am working n a second project parallel to this one that is the 6-Commando Technical Manual, and that has all the weapons specs and so forth in it. From time to time, I put a page up here when I need to take a week off from the project. I’d have put one up this week, but I have no Internet except on my iPad.
The United Nations does not build walkers like the Federated Socialist Republics – they prefer tanks and aircraft. However, it could be argued that their heavy battle armor is itself a kind of walker vehicle, so in that sense I guess they kind of do.
–M
Well really? But i heard you know the promo about the begin of the nuclear fallout ages in your promo about 4 commando world.
Thankyou glad that you could spare sometime to draw something you like , sound like a big work so you have to draw about 10 to 5 pages to make a completed pages as of rightnow
I think i will try to colour them , maybe a new way of drawing will be good .
Ok but i have something wanted to add , the story at the beginning you know 6 commando it sound great and interesting but it seem you make a name that seal the entire series fate in it . So in the future would you like to think about created a double blend event on top of this series so it grow larger and let you have more room to thought about, more creative and created a break that would make you name this series a new name? Of course we will wait here and still watching your webcomic .
You are a architect? So why are you so poor , i thought architect make good amount of wealth that can comfort what they wanted , because each blue print for building and object worth quite alot of money . I hope you will get alot more time because the better the time the more your mind can expanded and give us good story and drawing concept of yourwork .
Thought your talk i can see a the limited life when we live in a society that most people doesn’t appreciated talent , let me guest the entire storyline up to the bottom you have already figured out right? And all the art ,but the only thing stand in your way is you don’t have enought time to expressed it like the way you most wanted , i hope we will live a better future .
Oh and by the way do you know any webcomic? And about drawing i don’t like to add much colour more than white and black , because the colour i wanted is mostly like the one on realistic colour and that is by using computer program to draw so i will stick with pencil for a moment.
What is your job in architect ( professional too)?, why do you have to move your house is something bad happen?
Ok something if i can try to add up to the UN faction , maybe some secret small robot? Because most of the time UN faction in your world is base on electric module alot , and the russian is just base on forces and bulk technology althought very superior and can over match UN sodier (even big MIKE Whose know maybe in future they gonna make something way bigger?)
Im 16 now live in Vietnam , so i hope to meet you someday .
I just notice something importance about drawing something you like and you wanted to make out created it is not just like writting automaticly some word that people tell you to do , so it need alot of patient and balanced in your heart beat and oxygen taking in so that you can continue simultaniously do what you wanted without getting tired or become exhauted and run out of idea or give up .
So i hope this finding help to because i usually have this kind of problem , i draw and imaginated everything in my mind , and when i draw i usually only draw half of it because it exhauted to draw what i was thinking and all the detail wow it alot , and i usually give up quite fast eventhou i have the entire blueprint in my mind already hahaha so that is something i have to learn.
Do you have any other tips that i should know about? I wanted to know how do you make you know word and the globe board with word moving around how did you do that photoshop? Is there anyway but pencil can work on?
Small question , does MIKE get any upgrade after bringing back alive in the next event storyline?
Wow, you’ve asked a LOT of questions, but I’ll do my best!
I do sometimes write short stories, but 6-Commando is not one if them. It has a lot to it, but it’s a specific book with a beginning, middle and end. Still, the world is large enough to allow lots of other stories to take place in it, and I don’t rule out that I, or maybe one day someone else, might write a different one.
I’m not poor, but I’m not wealthy. I’ve had to earn what I have, and I worked very hard to send myself to school. I also had to have help from my family, and from banks that loaned me money to pay for it, so now I have to pay them back for the help they gave me when I needed it. Architects earn good wages, but we have to work hard and sometimes very long hours. But it is work I enjoy and I feel it is something that is helping to make the world a beautiful and cultured place, so I’m happy doing it, even so.
Time is the big limitation on my ability to draw more comics, time and energy. My main energy goes into building houses and other buildings, that’s what I really love to do. This comic is not work to me – I do it for fun and fulfillment. It takes commitment to draw things like this all the time, though, and it is people like you, Ulrich, Cameron, and everyone else who help me stay committed, because you write things that support me and help me to improve my skills as I go.
I write the letters by hand in Photoshop. I draw everything in Photoshop, because it is faster and lets me get more on each page in less time. But I learned to draw with a pencil and paper, and that’s the best way, I think. Just start to draw and keep doing it. If you love to do it, you’ll want to draw more and more as time goes on.
I hope that’s a good answer for your questions. I’m sure I’m missing some of what you asked, but that’s the best I can do right now! I, too, would like to meet the people who read this comic some day, although it will probably be a very long time. They’re all over the world – more so than most other comics out there, actually – and that is a real joy to me, that I’m able to appeal to people in so many countries. There’s a great myth about Americans that we don’t like people from other parts of the world, and it is not true at all. I’m really pleased that the story is so enjoyable to people in so many different countries, as well as in the United States.
–M
oh i also like watching webcomic do you know any other scifi , that is good in detail and futuristic worth watching?
Battlestar Galactica is a very good one, although its themes became very preachy towards the end. The story went off the rails in the fourth season, and the ending struck me as a cop out, but that’s just one man’s opinion. I liked Babylon 5 as well, though it too stretched my tolerance for preachiness a lot of times. For movies, the best sci fi bar none are 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Blade Runner. They top my list absolutely without question. Star Trek VI was my favorite, as well, though I’ve liked the reboot a lot.
But that’s all film and TV. For webcomics, I’m a fan of Outsider, by Jim Francis, a colleague of mine. It doesn’t update very often, though, as Jim is, like me, a more-than-full-time design professional. It’s very well realized, and the link is available in my “links” page. I’m also an admirer of the work of Tony Bourne, who wrote a graphic novel called Gen-Eg, which you might be able to find on Amazon, though offhand I don’t have a link. His stuff is hard core military science fiction.
–M
Space 2063: Above and Beyond?
oh i will watch it thank for the information , and hi Ulrich you seem to be into this series as well and time line is different here . IM PM your AM wo you are 2 AM? here is evening
can we support any idea or concept to the series you are drawing? I mean all of us even tho i can’t printed what i draw
I’m not quite sure I know what you mean by this. If you mean, can you draw stuff from 6-Commando yourself, well, I guess there’s nothing really wrong with that, though I don’t want anyone printing or selling it as their own, as I’m sure you could understand. But fan art and independent stuff just for fun, yes that’s fine by me.
–M
no i mean can we supported you with any idea or concept of our own , well if you can created a split event in the story or a kind of voting like that like that .
Yes it for fun and passion so don’t worry i mostly on that
Sometimes, people have become characters in the story, but I have a very specific plan for the book, so no, I don’t usually make it interactive like you imagine.
–M
yes i also watch those sci-fi to and sorry for my bad english sometime i find it hard to tell you what i wanted .
Have you ever drawing any spaceship or any kind of giant battle station? or just normal battleship in the pacific? I m rightnow drawing the battle robot in PAcific rim , have you watch that movie yet?
i watch that movie mainly because of the robot ,hey i just notice my time is AM and your is PM it night time there so good night then
Yes, you’re in the future, across the International Date Line. So my day is your night, and when it’s “today” for me, it’s already “tomorrow” for you!
I do draw spaceships sometimes, but not a lot of regular warships. I’m best at drawing buildings and machinery, like cars, tanks and engines.
–M
Moving is a pain, but at least we had this unnaturally temperate weather over the last couple of weeks. So that had to help a little bit.
Yes, thank God for that. I had good movers, too, so that helped. Lot of cleaning up to do, though, and now the unpacking, setting up, and so forth.
It’s good to do this once in a while though. Throw out all the accumulated garbage and don’t get too attached to the mess. It was shocking to me how much pure rubble I’d allowed to build up. It was nice to get rid of it.
–M
well thank alot for your answer even if it not answer all my question but it okey, so about the gun that sodier being shot at i see some kind of connect tube was it connected kinetic energy gun or is it ammo feeder in small pack not like the big russian armor .
And The Armor wow so even a normal gun like a magnum is already capable of injured these guy ,well cripple there armor leading to internal injures , like lame kevlar suit . I actually wonder this what does armor actually do in battle because i mean unless you are a cyborg or a clone or a battle ready platform that can charged to battle otherwise you just sitting duck in battle and take the heat from bullet.
Also the helmet is not that effective a bullet even if not able to penetrated can actually dislocated your entire head neck due to the helmet is attach to you head completedly, and fragment of bullet too.
seem like victory need some people t die and become casuality .
Ah im talking in english right now not using any program at all , and yes that is what i mean in the upper panel.
Now how about big MIKE i mean he must be getting some upgrade or atleast some attachment to him like a anti nuke missile next time , how heavy is MIKe and how mobile is he can he cross a swarm and go thought water undersea? how fast is he and what ammo does he used he seem to have a big cannon so he must be have about 5 to 10 different heavy ammo and light ammo not to mention gun bots , COMPARED this with the RATTE tank made by german hitler the giant tank , which one do you think will win? The ratte have battleship armor .
And dept hmn soundlike a problem that most american are having rightnow , hey MR.Inspiration if you can please pay up all the dept because it can make you suffering later on alot and it make you worry i see people have to leaved there house just because of dept and living on the street and even more gruesome have to work in 10 contract or live contract to pay for there entire live<—–this is the most bullshit realistic scenario i everthink , not body would thought that go to school high school or colleged could also mean you are dept slave .
I am very admire of you because in doing this project 6C-O-D <—- is this right to say if i wanted to make it shorter? YOu are also making building scretches so you are a artist wooo that great , because i thought you just drawing something for a day or a week and then you continue your work but your work is actually the same thing you do rightnow so im extremely admired you because drawing building cost alot of time not to mention most estate building like to choose which blueprint they wanted so it extra hard to make money too even if it not your most wanted attention(need to make money to living and pay dept ) .
I hate dept it ruined live of a lot of people thank to those emotionalless corporate around the world . But right now i can do nothing so what did you draw have you draw a 1,2,3,4,5….50 story house ? garages or you know a big warehouse or entire basement factory small one what did you draw can you let us see some ?? I be exited to draw some of the house you draw too .
So about moving house where do you plan to go? it bad thing happen everywhere , famine dept , thief ,robbery, national destruction, and police state wow do you know any self defences move or have you ever have combat in reallife before? I do wanted to come and see you and i don't like to see anything happen to you at all , because rightnow on what i heard most people is so poor over there they will even rob house that literally have nothing to take .
About the armor how did those cornosar even see anything using that helmet? wouldn't that blocking your view and you need to used a electronic device to look around?how powerful is that shotgun is it more power than normal shotgun ? the way it go thought that UN sodier seem like it armor piercing must be very expensive .
how heavy do you think those suit will be? does it have more gadget like food reserve, money, or something like secondary communication device incase of being jam , it look bulky and slow look like the (warhammer40k space marine armor <but the space marine here is 2 to 3 meter tall so they move faster and more dangerous)
Do you think that armor can save it wearer if they are in space? The way i see it only the UN,USSR heavy armor platform capable because it have oxygen reserved and more room to breath.
so i be here waiting for your next page bye
seem like i have the same problem of mess in my house , mostly paper video game disk and comic book ,and book and paper wow i should get it out it have bad effect thing about all those thing lying around you and attracted bug to breed in it arhhhhhhhhh
That Aussie flag patch was interesting. Reminded me of a version of the National flag not really used in our time line dating back to 1904. I like little touches like that. Like Easter eggs embedded in the over all tissue of the stories.
