Trouble
Bad things are happening in Command Post Alpha.
Some of the more astute webcomics readers may recognize a little cameo crossover with What It Takes, whose author KEZ very generously lent me her character so I didn’t have to cook one up for this scene. Since this is the first time we’re seeing the Reactor Room, I needed someone new – and since I lent KEZ Major Bronniford for What It Takes about a year ago, fair was fair. If you dig post-apocalyptic mayhem, give What It Takes a look!I’m on the mend here, finally, although I have a chronic cough I can’t shake that’s been a little worse since this infection started. I’m sort of dreading going back to work tomorrow – I’m exhausted and just want to take another week off… or three. But needs must and so I’m off to it.
Good plan. If you had to come up with your own characters on short notice, this greatly increases the chances of making a scotsman that yells “She’s giving it all she’s got!”
I would expect that to come from the grunts behind her. No matter how much you drill there’s just some procedures you don’t go over very often. Reading an unusual procedure while trying to make sense of the outputs and having somebody yelling at you at the same time is not an effective use of brain cells. The sergeant probably just got a field promotion to Lieutenant (at least as far as job function). At least she has acting like a green lewie down pat already. In our times you stay a Sargent, and hope the first officer you come across isn’t an ensign.
well shit
This is awesome! I was introduced to 6 Commando from What it Takes. I’m really enjoying the story thus far. I’m looking forward to reading more in the future.
Nuclear hazard outside, nuclear hazard indoors. Ingredients for a bright future!
I’ve heard the place gets glowing reviews!
None-combat troops don’t wear shooting patches, eh? Nice detail.
Enlisted. Officers have the padded shoulder.
But aren’t enlisted expected to use rifles, whereas officers carry pistols? Or are officers expected to need to shoot while in shirtsleeves while enlisted will always be in combat armour?
