And the Arab League makes its battlefield debut. I bet a lot of people were wondering why I bothered to write them into the storyline. Well, this is why.
Wow, I have to admit I can’t believe I got this page done. Although my workload has temporarily lightened at the proverbial “studio,” I still feel stressed out beyond all reasonable degrees. And yet I think this is a pretty darn good page – there are a couple of technical problems I’m sure, but I’ll iron those out eventually.
I don’t have anything to add to that, really. Next weekend I’m going to do some traveling, briefly, if all goes according to plan, but I still plan to update if at all possible. Honestly, I really am sorry that things have been so sporadic lately, but there’s a definite hierarchy when it comes to dealing with life, and a lot of things have had to go at the top of the list for me, rather suddenly and unexpectedly. But as you can see, I still go plugging along.
All the best, folks.
Nice! They remind me if the old metal Warhammer 40.000 Imperial Guard stormtroopers. Which is nice.
I can kind of see that. Unintentional, but there it is. Though the IG suits are not powered.
This page looks all too similar to reality in many ways.
Mmm. Would it weren’t so.
Great job on the page. Especially like the wear detail on the combat suits’ edges and joints where the finish has worn through to bare metal. If there are any other issues they don’t appear readily obvious.
I understand the need to reorganize your personal priorities, having had to do that somewhat for myself these past few months.
😀 Glad you liked that. Weathering the suits is one of my favorite little things to do. Keeps things from looking too “crisp,” given the sort of flat, cel-shaded coloring style I use.
Heh, I hope that armor has good air-conditioning for the wearer. Otherwise, if that’s a desert environment, those soldiers would be passing out from heat stroke after a few steps.
As a lover of winter, cold, snow, and all that, I can’t but agree!
Looks good to me. Don’t worry about reality, let it flow and do what needs doing. The art and the page will happen…
One of the great things about comics is how much you can get away with. 😉
This raised brow… ah… 😀
😀
Is it all falling into place, or is it just getting more confusing?
Interesting visors looks multi spec. Interesting that in this timeline it looks like the 6 day war didn’t take place or was vary diffrent then what happened here.
If I remember from an earlier talk with the author Israel is a part of the League and apparently not in an invaded sense but as a partner.
Israel is a component state of the Federation of Israel-Palestine, and is a member of the Arab League. There was no Six-Day War.
Yay! Things are going “Boom!”
I am happy.
Seriously, great work! Now you need to tell us more about those battlesuits and VTOLs in the background…
😀
I just keep making more work for myself with the Technical Manual, I guess.
Welcome back!
Question: Are those some form of light power armor? Maybe more like a human augmentation system versus a human input completely mechanized system. Though all power armor would be a human augmentation in some sense.
Light Power Armor. More like an enhanced suit of body armor than a true “powered armor.” Also, somewhat primitive compared to the Nordyne Regulator or the SPzKpfZ in the “real” world of the comic.
I like it and see this as something we may see in our world in another 20 years.
It may well be. Frankly, we may have it sooner. I’ve already seen load-lifting rigs in use – dense battery power seems to be the main obstacle at the moment. But it’s nothing an Isotope Termocouple couldn’t solve, if we could find a way to make them, you know, not irradiate us.
Actually thank crumpled Graphene(SP?) for that, some research indicates that it would be a pretty good battery. I’ll dig up the research but just to tell you now.
CARBON IS MAGIC!
Back in college I had a job working for a guy at the school who was designing carbon nanotubes, and the stuff is totally awesome. Buckminsterfullerene? Cool stuff.
Absolutely. We basically ALREADY have this – the strength augmentation is complete, it just need portable power.
We’re actually likely, I think, to see autonomous versions first, as the “keep the human alive” weight makes the difference between momentary usefulness and hump-it-all-day usefulness. See the robotic designs demoed in the last 2-3 years, for instance… no armor (yet), but they have weight capacity and significant hours of operation.
“[…] The actual state of affairs in Arabia and North Africa is anybody’s guess. Rumors run the gamut from reports of a super-advanced and futuristic utopia to a near-Medieval Jihadist Caliphate, and eveything in between. […]”.
This remains to be seen.
I know I’ve asked this before, but is this conflict the closest the world gets (or will ever get) to a glimpse of Arab League?
Also, how often does the West conduct operations unilaterally?
1) Maybe, but maybe not.
2) more often in the 1970s and 1980s, less so since 1990 or so.
Are those UN tanks I see?
United States tanks, yes. Same design, slightly different allegiance.
Ah does this mean that U.S. Troops are still assisting that they just threw the troops out and kept the equipment?
are those US tanks? I thought these guys were isolationists
Where can I order a boom stick?
It’s for a birthday party, please.
