Hey, everyone! Super sorry for the delay on this page but I’ve been having a few health issues the past week or two. Rest assured, I’m on the mend. It was a little hair-raising but it’s going to be fine. Your forebearance was really massively appreciated, I can tell you!
As for the comic, well… this is what a past-tactical-range duel between cybertanks looks like. Wild, wacky stuff.
At any rate, I’ll be seeing you again soon! All the best, folks!
Saturate the opposing defence with waves of missiles, drones and dummies. All carried out using a towed launch and supply platform.
Similar to the tactics used by the pod-design super-dreadnaughts of the
“Honorverse”.
‘All missiles’ is actually the tactic that should be used. Decoys that don’t match the actual stuff-that-goes-boom in every respect (weight, size, shape, radar reflectivity, etc.) get filtered out VERY quickly, so you have to make your decoy absolutely identical to the things you’re decoying for…at which point you might as well make IT go boom too.
Unless they’re very good decoys.
True, Sufficiently Advanced Phelbtonium would work. 😉 But when it comes to actual stuff we can build or think of building, any decoy can be discriminated.
It’s tricky stuff, phlebotonium.
Of course the other alternative is that all the missiles could be active. Victor is big and can carry a lot of ordinance… 😉
But there have to be limits or else you wind up with the Death Star.
That said, Victor’s hardware is probably newer than Mike’s, so he/it has an advantage. Mike has Sarah and the base backing him/it up so this might get really complicated.
Also… where are the Reds in this? Shooting missiles at the killbots might not be such a good idea. In our reality the Russian Army came up with all kinds of interesting ideas for defeating western missiles, some of which worked.
good to see another Honor-verse fan here
Things are stepping up a notch or three…and I suspect a cliffhanger to end the chapter is coming 😉
Hope you get better soon!
Thanks man. The medication I’m on now is weapons grade, and is having a very profound and immediate effect. I feel much better already!
oh not this shit gets real.
Tactical missile attacks are really where the rubber hits the road.
I hope Victor is not mixing in some sensor/eyeball missiles and using the feedback for his main guns. After all, he already knows he can’t saturate Mike with a full salvo of cruise-missiles, so what’s he expecting to achieve with a full salvo of clusters? Smart move? Clusters are chaff/ECM covering for sensors spotting for those 20-incher mains. Use those a bit before Victor closes to knife-fight. THEN cluster/explosive. Right now, he’s just wasting ammo. (Yay!) IMHO.
Haulley better start sending wave after wave of his own men against Victor. Zapp Brannigan style…
HMMM….. INTERESTING… TACTICAL ANALYSIS COMPLETE: ENEMY DEFENCE SYSTEM HARDPOINTS IDENTIFIED! ENGAGE CLUSTER MUNITIONS! TARGET FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT!! EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE!!!! EXTERMINATE!!!!!!!
I’am actually curious. From where it get’s it’s missiles? All I can see is TOS-1s “box” with no actual magazine or way the launcher can be fed. Is there resuply vehicle trailing behind?
One of these days I’ll have to draw a cutaway of Mike and Victor. But the missiles are in the rear hull and the launcher. The exhaust vents back around the loading mechanism and the magazines.
So, the “box” falls into vertical position and then it is loaded from behind, and the magazine is in that “open” spot between the “bars” fxing the launcher?
Had to go and send an Ogre Mark V after them, didn’t they?
