A Death at the Gates of Heaven – Page 2
When it rains, it pours. This week, in addition to a very tight work deadline I got a severe inner ear infection, and a line of storms blew through my area last night, and let me tell you, this is one of the most painful things ever. The swelling is made worse by atmospheric changes, you get dizzy and nauseous, and your head feels like it’s trying to split down the middle. Forget about sleeping, or concentrating on anything for more than three seconds. And the pain medication they give you doesn’t make the pain stop, it just takes the very outer edges off of it. All you can do is try to get the right medicine, and endure it. The antibiotics they gave me are starting to work, though, I think. I have no idea why I’m susceptible to these, but there it is.
Regardless, here’s page two!
About A Death At The Gates Of Heaven:
This story first appeared in 2018 in the Spiderforest Webcomic Collective anthology Threads: A Gallery of Rogues, which is available in print for the impatient among you by clicking on the image below. It appeared alongside fifteen other graphic short stories in full color, and so for my money it’s a good buy for entertainment during the current time! You can also find other volumes of our anthology, and the work of a lot of other great Spiderforest artists worth looking into.
And of course, please give Ally’s spectacular Wychwood a look as well! And as always, thanks for the continued support! The notes and emails I’ve received have all been so positive and encouraging, I can’t tell you all how much it means to me. God bless!
A robot detective? Now where have we seen that before? 😀
He’s a Centran. He would probably say, “We’re not automatons – we’re PHYSICAL!”
How many detective movies did S-94107 watch to prepare for this moment?
Only the ones with Smokey Bob Mitchum.
Hey, you’re back! So good to see activity on the site again. I’ve missed you & your work. I’m sorry about your troubles, it sounds like you’ve had a rough year. Take your time getting back into things. We’ve all waited this long, we can wait a little longer.
Honestly, even if you didn’t start drawing or posting again, I’m just glad to hear from you. You’ve already given us a fantastic world with an amazing story. Sure we all want to see how it ends, but what we have so far is better than many other comics I’ve read. Pretty good for an “average” guy. I just want you to know, this reader is happy to see you back, whether the main comic continues or not. Take care now.
That shuttle is very Babylon 5esque.
That PanAm logo struck me as a throwback all the way to “2001,” since the airline itself folded several years ago. (Jeeze, Wikipedia says 1991.)
Mr Average, glad you’re back, even if not up to your old self. Been there myself more than a few times in the last few years.
