A Death at the Gates of Heaven – Page 11
Take that. Sometimes there’s a place for lack of subtlety.
About A Death At The Gates Of Heaven:
This story first appeared in 2018 in the Spiderforest Webcomic Collective anthology Threads: A Gallery of Rogues, which is available in print for the impatient among you by clicking on the image below. It appeared alongside fifteen other graphic short stories in full color, and so for my money it’s a good buy for entertainment during the current time! You can also find other volumes of our anthology, and the work of a lot of other great Spiderforest artists worth looking into.
And of course, please give Ally’s spectacular Wychwood a look as well! And as always, thanks for the continued support! The notes and emails I’ve received have all been so positive and encouraging, I can’t tell you all how much it means to me. God bless!
Nyoom
Pretty much.
Oh darn I was hoping for a death wish execution

Coming through! 🙁
Yeah, make way for the six-hundred-pound machine.
Hmmm like that pistol design, shame she didn’t get to use it as intended. It does bring up the question of how effective her weapon would be against a target that might be by default armored.
Well who knows, this might be the pilot for my next comic. You may yet see the capsulized linear plasma accelerator in action!
And yeah she tends to shoot first and ask questions later – nothing if not valorous, although she did take the law into her own hands. As was the style at the time.
That said I’d love to see a series based on this one. If that isn’t in the cards so to speak I am still happy to see activity on this site even if it’s not 6 commando.
Kind of you to say! I do still plan to finish 6-Commando. But this short story goes back to one of my first attempts at a graphic novel called “Hôtel Métropolitain,” which was originally going to be set in Paris circa 2150. The setting is the same: neo-noir police drama on a postwar Earth where the invaders are now stuck here and everyone is trying to learn how to get along with each other.
Again, that’s a theme that doesn’t seem to have a lot of traction right now, that of trying to get along instead of focusing on domination or on winners and losers. It sometimes seems to me like people, at the moment, would rather tell each other to fuck off, or at best simply wait for their turn to speak, rather than try to listen, understand and get along. I have never subscribed to the theory that one cannot be right unless someone else is wrong, a Manichaean outlook that only values you so long as you have an enemy to conquer. But it seems to be an article of faith at the moment in the culture at large. One shouts into a storm, it seems.
Pistol design despite trying to be Unreal’s Automag, still looks like unneccesary weirded conventional one Placement of the magazine in forward position do not have sense, especially for the gun of this calibre, without a stock. Also opened magazine?
And capsulised plasma accelerator? What even is that?
I’ll try to do better next time.
